Pachadi is always served as a side dish with another main dish. It is mostly sour in taste. Vendakkai Pachadi / Ladys Finger Raitha includes Roasted Ladys Finger with coconut masala and Curd. Finally topped up with tampering. The addition of coconut paste add in rich taste to the dish.
Vendakkai Pachadi / Ladys Finger Raitha
Ingredients
For Roasting Ladys Finger
- 1 Cup Ladys Finger Chopped
- 1 Tablespoon Oil
- Salt Taste
- ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- 1 Teaspoon Cumin seeds
For Tampering
- 1 Tablespoon Oil
- 1 Teaspoon Mustard
- 3 Dry Red Chillis
- 2 Spring Curry Leaves
For Coconut Paste
- 1 Cup Coconut
- 1 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds
- 2 Green Chilli
- Water as required
Other Ingredients
- ¾ Cup Thick Curd

- After adding curd do not boil for more time as it would cuddle.
Step by step photos on how to make Vendakkai Pachadi / Ladys Finger Raitha:
- Chop Ladys Finger into small pieces. Set them aside. Add in the ingredients for coconut paste into a blender and blend them into a fine paste.
2. Heat oil in a wok. Add in Cumin and allow to splutter.
3. Add in the chopped Ladys finger and saute them. Add in Salt to taste and Turmeric Powder.
4. Saute until the Ladys finger is roasted.
5. In another Wok heat oil. Add in Mustard and allow them to splutter. Add in Curry Leaves and saute them. Add in dry red chillis. Add in the coconut paste.
6. Saute for few minutes. Add in salt to taste.
7. Cook until the coconut paste is cooked well. Add in the sauted Ladys finger and mix gently. Finally add in the Curd and mix gently. Heat for only a minute and switch off the flame.
The Ladys Finger raitha is now ready to serve.
