    Banana Kheer / Pazham Payasam

    Banana Kheer / Pazham Payasam is a popular dessert prepared in kerala. Especially during the time of Onam festival. Payasam is an essential part in any feast. Why not try it with a variation of banana in it. Here i have the recipe for it. Why to wait for an occasion to prepare and enjoy this healthy dessert. Prepare it today and make the day special.     Banana Kheer / Pazham Payasam

    Banana Kheer / Pazham Payasam is a healthy and Delicious Dessert

    Ingredients

    • 1 Big Nendram banana
    • 1 Cup Cows Milk
    • ½ Cup Refined Sugar / Jaggery Powder
    • ½ Cup Water
    • 2 Tablespoon Ghee
    • 15 Cashews

    Instructions

    • Heat Ghee in a wok and add in cashews and roast them until they start browning. Remove the cashews from the ghee and set them aside.
    • Chop the bananas into slices and saute them in the same ghee. Saute in low flame. The banana tends to be sticky. Keep Stirring.
    • When they are sauted well remove them from the wok and set aside for cooling down.
    • Blend the banana slices into a smooth paste. Add the banana paste into the ghee and keep sauting for few minutes.
    • Add in milk and keep stirring until the banana and the milk blends well. Add in Sugar and keep coooking.
    • Keep cooking until the mixture blends well. Add Roasted Cashews and switch off the flame.
    • Banana Kheer / Pazham Payasam is now ready to serve. Enjoy this mouthwatering dessert and an after meal dessert.

    Notes

    • Milk Can be replaced with coconut milk. If using coconut milk them add the thin coconut milk at first and the Thick coconut milk at the end. After adding the thick coconut milk do not cook for more time
    • Adjust jaggery according to sweetness of the fruit.
    • Payasam thickens when it cools down over time. If so add in hot water and adjust the consistency.
