Cabbage Stirfry / Muttaikose Poriyal is a South Indian side dish recipe. This is a Dry style recipe generally served with Rasam (Pepper Water) or Puli Kulambu (Tamarind flavoured Gravy). Sometimes chopping cabbage by hand is a messy job, A very good alternate is using a food processor or a Grater. I have grated the Cabbage in the recipe below. Cabbage Poriyal / Cabbage Stir Fry is served with hot steamed rice and any strong flavored gravy like Puli Kulambu / Tamarind Gravy. Cabbage Stirfry / Muttaikose Poriyal
Cabbage stir fry is a simple side dish to be served with rice or roti
Servings: 2
Ingredients
- 1 Cup Cabbage Grated
- 1 Onion Chopped
- 1 Green Chillies
- 2 Tablespoon Moong Dal
- 1 Spring Curry Leaves
- ½ Teaspoon Mustard
- 1 Tablespoon Oil
Instructions
- Soak the moong dal in water for 10 minutes.
- Chop cabbage and onion and set aside. I have grated cabbage as i feel this is the easier way. Or it can be chopped or can be chopped in a food processor.
- Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard and wait until it splutters. Add the soaked Moong dal and fry it for 2 minutes. and Add onion, green chilli and curry leaves and fry them until onion becomes glossy.
- Add the chopped cabbage and cook them. Add salt to taste. Just sprinkle a tablespoon of water if required. Do not add any more water.
