Modak is the favourite sweet offering given to Lord Ganesha in Ganesh Chaturthi.
For the inner filling, Add in the grated coconut and saute it for 2 or 3 minutes.
Add in the grated jaggery and saute it. Add in the cardamom powder. Keep stirring until the mixture becomes a thick mass. Set this mixture aside.
For the Outer cover. Heat Water in a pot. Add in Ghee into hot water. Do not let the water to boil for a long time it must not be too hot. This is to avoid the flour from drying.
Take the raw rice flour in a bowl. Add the required salt to taste and mix it well. Add in the ghee water and make it into a dough consistency. Use a spoon for mixing it as it is hot to touch with your hands.
Make it to chapatti dough consistency. When the dough settles down to room temperature take the modak mould. Make a thin layer of the dough inside the mold.
Add the filling into the mold now. Take some more batter and fill the base of the modak. Now remove the modak from the mold.
Prepare the modaks from the remaining batter as well. Get ready with the steamer. Add water, Place the modaks in the steamer close it with its lid and start steaming in the pot. Steam the modaks for 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes remove them from the steamer and serve hot.
Yummy Modaks are now ready to serve.
