Mochai Carrot Sundal is another variation of regular sundal recipes. I found this recipe in this space and luved it due to the addition of carrot. The addition of sundal podi gives nice taste to the sundal. Mochai Carrot Sundal is a navratri recipe. It can also be enjoyed as a any time snack. Mochai Carrot Sundal
Mochai Carrot sundal is a simple and nutritious snack recipe.
Servings: 4
Ingredients
- 1 Cup Mochai
- 1 Teaspoon Oil
- ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- Water as required
- ½ Teaspoon Mustard
- 5 Dry Red Chilli
- 2 Spring Curry Leaves
- 3 Tablespoon Carrot Grated
- 2 Teaspoon Sundal Podi/Spice Mix Powder
Instructions
- Soak Mochai Overnight, or atleast for 4 hours. Then drain the water add them into pressure cooker. Add limited water. Add in salt and turmeric powder. Close the pressure cooker.
- Pressure Cook Mochai for 2 whistles or until soft with salt and turmeric powder. Allow the pressure to release on its own. Open the pressure cooker. Drain the excess water and set it aside.
- For the tampering heat oil in a frying pan. Add in mustard, allow it to splutter. Add in dry red chillis. Add in curry leaves. Add the carrot and saute them.
- Add in the mochai and saute them. Add in the sundal podi and saute until all the ingredients are cooked well.
- Mochai and carrot sundal is now ready to serve.
Notes
- Grated coconut can also be used for garnishing.
- Onion also can be added to the tampering for nice flavour.
Step by step photos on how to make Mochai Carrot Sundal:
