Being in the season of lent, i strictly wanted to stick to Vegetarian food Until Easter. Hence started looking for many vegetarian recipes to be consumed with steamed rice. I am posting many more vegetarian gravy recipes and Veggie stir fry recipes this Lent season. Murungaikai More Kuzhambu / Drumstick Curd Gravy is one such vegetarian recipe that i came across when i was looking for vegetarian gravy recipes. Murungaikai More Kuzhambu / Drumstick Curd Gravy
Murungaikai More Kuzhambu / Drumstick Curd Gravy is a simple curd based curry with steamed rice.

Ingredients
For Cooking Drumstick
- 1 Drumstick
- 8 Shallots
- ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- 1 Cup Water
- Salt To Taste
To Roast and Grind
- 1.5 Tablespoon Coriander Seeds
- 1 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds
- 1 Teaspoon Raw Rice
- 8 Cashews
- 2 Green Chilli
- ⅓ Cup Coconut Grated
Other Ingredients
- 1 Teaspoon Chilli Powder
- ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- Salt to Taste
- Water as Required
- 2 Tablespoon Oil
- ½ Teaspoon Fenugreek Seeds
- ½ Teaspoon Mustard
- ½ Teaspoon Urad Dal
- 2 Dry Red Chilli
- Fistful Curry Leaves
- ½ Cup Thick Curd
- 1.5 Water
Notes
- Increase or decrease the water level as required.
- Chilli powder can be replaced with sambar powder.
Step by Step Photos on how to make Murungaikai More Kuzhambu / Drumstick Curd Gravy
- Chop drumstick into 2 inch pieces. Add into a wok with small onion, Water, Turmeric Powder and Salt.
- Give a quick stir and close the wok and cook until the drumstick is cooked.
- Heat oil in a sauce pan. Add in Fenugreek seeds, Mustard and Urad Dal. Allow them to splutter. Add in dry red chillis and curry leaves. Saute them for few minutes. Add in the cooked drumstick mixture with the remaining water. Keep cooking.
- Meanwhile add in the ingredients mentioned under to roast and grind into a wok. First add in Raw rice, Coriander Seeds, Cumin Seeds, Cashews and roast them. When done then add in green Chillis and Coconut and saute them. Switch off the flame. Cool them down and blend them into a smooth paste.
- Add in the blended paste into the drumstick mixture. Add in required water. Add in turmeric powder and chilli powder. Give a quick stir. Bring it to boil.
- Close the Saucepan and keep cooking until the gravy is done. Switch off the flame.
- Add in curd and give a quick stir. Drumstick more kuzhambu is now ready to serve.
- Enjoy Drumstick More Kuzhambu with rice and papad.
